Sculptor and creator of installations, interventions and work in alternative media. She studied Advertising, Journalism and Public Relations at the University of the Sacred Heart in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from where she obtained an Associate Degree in Communication Sciences in 1989. Initially self-taught, since 1995 she dedicates herself to the arts in full time. She has been trained in practical production workshops and continually conducts research on new media and participates in contemporary art theory courses. Her work focuses on the theme of nature and has recently intersected it with the human footprint on the planet, from which have derived artworks with comments of an ecological, economic, social and ethical order. She is an Honorary Artistic Creator of the National System of Art Creators of Mexico. Additionally, she works as a cultural manager, curator and museum designer.
Through art I share my particular vision about the state of planet earth, the human being and the relationship that exists between the two, with the idea of creating stories that lead us to return to nature as an example of ethical culture in the middle of a damaged world. For years, the theme of nature began to infiltrate my artistic production. From various forms of representation of the plant world, I began to work with situations that affect the preservation of nature, contingent aspects that I dealt with under three specific sub-themes: "Water", "Food" and "Earth". I continued with an investigation on the impact that human activity, its technology and sphere of knowledge have on the planet: "Effects of the Anthropocene and the Noosphere on Earth" specifically addressed issues such as migration, the crisis of biodiversity, time as measure of power, climate change, the impact of the economic, among other issues. My work now points towards a new order that will integrate ancestral knowledge, technology and artificial intelligence: the Biocene.
In my searches, I combine the rigor of research and the poetics that results from reflecting on these findings. The repertoire of materials that I use is extensive and ranges from traditional supports to the use of pollution. I enrich my proposals using disciplines as sculpture, video, installation, interventions, object art and documentation, among others.
The artistic work that I do is inserted into a social dimension that questions reality and its contrasts, generating transversal relationships between subjects and objects, between the corporeal and the immaterial with the intention of causing a transformation in the realm of reality, which has repercussions in a possible world.
