Biography

Painter, printmaker and draftsman. In 1997, he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts from Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico. Graduated in 2002 with a Master’s Degree of Visual Arts from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Mexico City. Has worked as an assistant to several artists in Puerto Rico and Mexico, as an illustrator for Mexican magazines, and as a curator and exhibition designer on the Island. He has been a silkscreen, painting, drawing, engraving, art appreciation and commercial art Professor in several institutions in Puerto Rico. In 1993, he founded Taller La Yuma in Río Piedras, San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he works as a coordinator. Won an award (1994) and an honorable mention (1995) at the Exhibition for Young Artists at Museo de Arte e Historia de San Juan. Received the Arnaldo Roche-Rabel Scholarship from Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Puerto Rico in 1995 and the Lexus Grant in 2009. He has held several solo exhibitions in Puerto Rico and Mexico; and has participated in group shows in Puerto Rico, the United States, Mexico, Nicaragua, France and Cuba. He creates art with whatever he has at hand and believe that anything that involves everyday life has the possibility of transforming into something aesthetic in his hands.
