Painter and musician. He has been regarded as Francisco Oller’s most outstanding disciple, with whom he studied since 1868. He also excelled in the musical field as part of the Teatro de San Juan Orchestra, Choirmaster at the Cathedral and giving private piano and violin lessons. From his teacher Oller, he learned to master the light and color of the tropics, reflected in the clarity and brilliance of his works. He was one of the few painters who captured scenes from the Spanish-American war. Jordán cultivated primarily small format landscapes. In them he skillfully shows scenes from the Puerto Rican reality at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th: villages populated with straw huts, sugar mills and wood houses amongst the green flora of our landscapes.
