Biography Details

Painter. He was part of a group of painters who worked on the Island during the XVII century. Among that group of artists that cultivated religious art, he is recognized as the first Puerto Rican painter with a painting signed by its author. Two paintings from this artist have been recovered, one that represents the image of Nuestra Señora de Monserrate (Our Lady of Monserrat), retained by a private collection in San Juan, and one depicting the image of Christ crucified known as Cristo de la Salud, preserved in the Capilla del Cristo in Old San Juan.
