Hacedores de caminos (Road makers) is the title of the1st exhibition for the arts and education organized by the Center for Innovative Education of the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. To achieve this, we call on all the visual arts teachers of the Puerto Rico Department of Education to submit their best works to an arts contest. Dozens of teachers responded by presenting rigorous portfolios of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mosaic, ceramics, textiles, photography, and audiovisuals, attesting to the vast universe of talent that our public schools teachers have. The creation of this exhibition was not carried out by selecting the ones with the best abilities, but those art works that represented a coherent sample that would demonstrate the diversity, conceptual and technical plurality of these makers. Hacedores de caminos (Road makers),1st exhibition for the arts and education celebrates the creative commitment of our teachers as well as celebrates and honors their feat. It is our Fine Arts Teachers who have to their credit foster and open the way for the development of creativity in Puerto Rican children and youth. Let's applaud their talent together. Let's remember its value together.
