Artist Statement

“The content and subject of my paintings emanate from autobiographical constructs. With them I also explore formal and conceptual themes in painting and art history that interest me. The physicality of the materials/objects used respond to the narrative that is being constructed; a type of cause-effect relationship is established. The materials/objects become active participants of the visual discourse that is being developed in the painting. The compositions are a constant tension between the formal and the informal, the static and the dynamic. Color carries the weight of my expressive self; with it, I give tangibility to my feelings, emotions and whims”.
