Javier Cambre

Biography Details

Works with video, sculpture, installations and the creation of spaces. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Architecture at the Architecture School of the University of Puerto Rico as well as an architect diploma from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellín, Colombia, and a Master's Degree in Art from the Art Institute of Chicago. He has participated at the Whitney Biennale (2002) in the United States. He has shown his works in Europe and Latin America. He examines film, popular culture, human behavior and memory within dislocated spaces and their frequent relationship with architecture.

Artist Statement

“My artwork intends to establish a dialogue between the poetics of space and the social and economic implications of architectural proposals (prototypes) as the blueprint for our behavioral activities”.
